From parking warnings to local elections to that 5k run that you slept through by accident. If this sounds like a sticker on your car window, it’s time to remove it. You’ve waited long enough, any longer and it is going to be nothing but more work. It may even do damage to the paint on your car!
Some quick advice before we get started on our awesome guide: Do Not Rush. Just like anything else if you tackle it without a plan in place you may end up with a bigger mess than when you started. So let’s start on our guide on how to remove stickers from your vehicle with some easy to do steps.

How to Remove Stickers From a Car in Three Simple Steps

1. Start by warming up the sticker, this loosens the adhesive. You can use a hairdryer for this part if you can connect one nearby. If you do use a hairdryer then be mindful of the heat, if it’s set on high then hold the dryer it further away.
  a. Side note: If you don’t have a hairdryer or the heat is just not enough then you can use different solvents to try and     loosen the sticker. This would include boiling water and using a cloth to apply it to the sticker, white vinegar, vodka (drink     after sticker is removed if you’d like), and even lighter fluid (let this one be a last resort).

2. This is where you need your patience. Slowly and gently peel back a corner of the sticker. You can use your fingernail of a rubber utensil, do not use any metal tools. Peel the sticker back, not up, until it comes completely off. Use heat as needed.

3. Time to remove the leftover residue. Here you can use rubbing alcohol or some Goo Gone which can be found in your local pharmacy. With alcohol rub gently with a cloth until its completely clean

Is that bumper sticker really something that you want to keep?

Some stickers have built-in expiration dates, which come in handy for short term messages. So, if you are planning on removing the sticker after a little while, try one of these techniques:

  • Put the sticker on the glass. This way it will be easy to remove with just a simple razor and something to take off the rest of the adhesive. Be careful not to use a razor on the inside of the rear windshield, this could damage the defrosting wires.
  • Put it on a magnet. No sticky residue to worry about after or time spent removing the sticker as a whole
  • Try using wax first. Easy to find turtle wax on your bumper is mentioned by expert on helping remove the sticker later.
